P.S. I will leave a Cannolo and a Glass of Etna Red for you

Something from Ortigia Sicilia

Ortigia is an Italian soap and scent company with a luxurious range of soaps, scents, creams, candles and lotions which are formulated using natural products indigenous to Sicily inspired by the colours and scents of the island. This year I have my eye on the Gattopardo silk square scarves and the new Gattopardo gift tin which contains seven shower gels in Ambra (black amber) Fico d'India (prickly  pear), Lime di Sicilia (Sicilian Lime), Melograno (pomegranate), Sandalo (sandal) and Zagara (orange blossom).

Jewellery from Isola Bella Gioielli

Unique and precious, Isola Bella Jewellery is made by artisan goldsmiths combining ancient techniques and new technology. The range tells the story of the symbols and colours of the island and are an exclusive line of jewellery made in Sicily. Bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants and charms come in designs ranging from Sicilian carts, wheels, Moorish heads, figs, oranges and lemons amongst many others. This year I am loving Balconi di Sicilia earrings, which draw inspiration from the Baroque balconies of Sicily and the colours of ceramics from the town of Caltagirone.

Something Yummy from Kimi Sicilian Gourmet

Kimi Sicilian Gourmet is Sicilian comfort food in a jar, lovingly created by husband and wife team Adriana and Mimmo. Their delicious products are made from traditional old family recipes using the finest produce from our abundant island, I love their Pate di Caponata, Pesto di Vulcano, Crema di Carciofo (artichoke) and for something sweet Crema di Pistachio, also the Busiate Trapanesi pasta and their Couscous.

Chocolate from Antica Dolceria Bonajuto in Modica

The unusual plain dark chocolate of Modica is grainy in texture and is made using a cold manufacturing process traditionally believed to have been introduced by the Spanish, though it may even be of Aztec origin. Antica Dolceria Bonajuto is the oldest chocolate factory in Sicily where you can enjoy chocolate with many flavours such as Arancia (orange), Zenzero (ginger), Peperoncino (chilli pepper) amongst many others. I particularly love the Cioccolato Limone (chocolate with lemon).

The NEW 'Sicily: Recipes from an Italian Island' Book

Authors of this cookery book Giancarlo and Kate Caldesi are the owners of London's Caffe Caldesi and La Cucinca Caldesi cooking school. In their latest book they head to Sicily to unearth a dazzling array of local dishes. I can never possess too many Sicilian cookery books.

A Sicily Bag

The Sicilian "coffa" bag is a straw basket handmade by local artisans decorated with rich elements of Sicilian folklore such as pom poms, mirrors, bells and metallic lion heads similar to those seen on Sicilian doors with some even decorated with Sicilian scenes like Mount Etna. I would love a medium sized bag ... perfect for the beach in 2017.

A Piece of Artwork from Don Corleone Objects

The creator and founder of these works of art is Sicilian artist Antonio Forlin. Founded in 2004 he decided to break away from the traditional Sicilian patterns to reinterpret them in a modern way. Entering the shop in Taormina is like crossing the threshold of a fantastic fairytale world.

A bottle of Sicilian dessert wine

The wine industry in Sicily has been going through a period of rapid change over the past twenty years. A perfect Christmas gift is a Sicilian dessert wine, my favourite at the moment is the Kabir 2015 by Donnafugata which is a Moscato from the Sicilian island of Pantelleria. For me it would be delicious after my Christmas pudding.

A bottle of Aqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina

This prestigious Italian perfume company have created the fragrance Cedro di Taormina as part of their Blu Mediterraneo range, the fragrance combines the freshness of citron combined with aromatic basil, black pepper and lavender all grown on the lush and fertile volcanic earth of Sicily.

A Cookery Class at Villa Britannia

Beautiful Villa Britannia hosts wonderful cooking classes. You can join a 'Hands on' cookery class including an aperitif and four course lunch with wines in one of the most beautiful houses in Taormina which boasts a home away from home atmosphere. The owners Marco and Louisa are the perfect hosts and I never need any excuse to return.
