Sicilia Outlet Village

One of the most popular places that I get asked questions about is the Sicilia Fashion Outlet Village. I guess you guys love shopping?

Whilst far from being a cultural destination it can easily be combined with a morning discovering the Baroque City of Catania and the ancient hilltop town of Enna.

The village is a bit of a drive from Catania but it is well worth it for shopaholics.

Sicilia Outlet Village offers an attractive open air shopping environment boasting famous brands at reduced prices throughout the year with discounts ranging between 30% & 70%.

Situated in the stunning mountainous region of Enna, Sicilia Outlet Village has a great modern architecture with innovative design set as a real village with cobbled streets lined with trees, busy squares, parkland, flowers in bloom, shops selling local produce, pastry shops, restaurants, cafes and of course designer boutiques. In the summer there are several activities going on such as concerts, competitions for children and other cultural events. Last year the 1980’s English pop group Spandau Ballet joined in the summer festivities after the success of their concert at the Teatro Greco in Taormina. The shop building facades reflect both the European and North African styles which are so common in Sicily.

There are over 140 shops offering discounts from make-up to homeware, for children or adults, from perfumes to accessories, from dresses to sportswear or you can even just window shop at the luxury brands. Sicilia Fashion Village is perfect for fashionistas.

For a special shopping experience a personal shopper service is available upon reservation.

There is extensive free car parking with provision to accommodate up to 3000 cars.

Luxury brands you can find there are Armani, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Hogan, Hugo Boss, Iceberg, La Perla, Michael Kors, Missoni, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tod’s, Trussardi and Versace. Sportswear includes Adidas, Nike and Puma.

There are several refreshment areas for when you get hungry after all that shopping. One stop for chocoholics is the Lindt outlet, it is pure chocolate heaven. There are bars of chocolate with every flavour you could ever dream of, the café is my cheeky indulgence where even the spoons are made of chocolate.

One big fan of the village is our dog Daisy.

Daisy loves Sicily, she loves her early morning walks on the beach and a dip in the sea, but the one thing Daisy misses about England is grass. At the outlet village there is lots of grass for her to enjoy under her paws.

Another favourite pastime of Daisy is socialising and she gets a lot of attention here. The village is dog friendly but dogs are not allowed inside the shops (unless you can put them in your discounted designer handbag which unfortunately I cannot with Daisy, she weighs 25 kilos).

It is so dog friendly that there are water fountains just for your pampered pooch. Turn the tap and water pours into a special stainless steel dog bowl that sits underneath and drains away as they finish drinking. Daisy is absolutely fascinated by the doggy fountains.

Daisy loves Sicilia Outlet Village so much that we literally have to carry her back to the car, I kid you not. She sits down and refuses to budge.

There are buses that depart from Catania to the village and you can also travel from Taormina or Giardini Naxos with a tour operator. But why not treat yourself to a touch of luxury and have a private driver escort you in a comfortable Mercedes.

Early starts to visit Catania first are recommended in order to visit the famous Pescheria (fish market) where you can join a Street Food Tour.

Sicilia Outlet Village is also the perfect addition to my Taormina Hen Weekend itinerary.

Whilst in the area the beautiful hilltop town of Enna should not be missed.

Because of its easily defendable position on the top of a tall hill, Enna was almost the only town in Sicily’s interior for centuries. Enna was so well defended that the Arabs, having tried to capture it for 20 years, resorted to crawling in through the ancient sewer system.

In the historic town centre there is a gothic cathedral with baroque renovations, the church of San Giovanni with its Arabic dome, the Museo Alessi’s ancient coin collection and the museum of Sicily in Miniature which showcases local traditions such as costumes from the Holy week festivals which Enna is most famous for, but more about that another time.

There are also stunning views from Enna to all three corners of Sicily to invoke Insta-envy from your Instagram followers.

Please feel free to contact me for my recommendations for Private Drivers, Catania Street Food Tours and Taormina Hen Weekends which are becoming increasingly popular.
