This year it is twenty years since we first visited Sicily and we immediately fell in love with the island, its culture, and its people and its FOOD, so much so that after just three trips we decided that we wanted to live there and so we bought our Sicilian house. We really wanted to learn to live life the Sicilian way in a location away from other destinations with large ex-pat communities. At that time we were one of only a few British people, who were not related by marriage or family, to have a home on the island which was the big appeal for us to immerse ourselves into Sicilian life. My parents were English and I grew up in an area of South London where there were a lot of Italian families. I went to school with many Italian descendant children and their birthday parties and invitations to play at their homes were always so fascinating and fun.
